“Twenty-six file for Emanuel seat”

by thoughtfulconservative

From TheHill.com

Fifteen Democrats, six Republicans and five Green Party candidates will compete in a March 3 primary, with the winners facing off in an April 7 general election.

The Democrat who wins the primary will be heavily favored in the district, which stretches from the shores of Lake Michigan to the suburbs around O’Hare Airport. Barack Obama won nearly three in four votes in the district.

Democrats with an early head start include state Reps. Sara Feigenholtz and John Fritchey, Chicago Alderman Patrick O’Connor and Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley. Some expect attorney Tom Geoghegan to compete seriously for the seat.

Twenty-six! Wow.

April 7 election set for Emanuel’s seat

by thoughtfulconservative

Politics – April 7 election set for Emanuel’s seat – ArcaMax Publishing

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich Monday set April 7 for a special election to fill the U.S. House seat Rahm Emanuel gave up to join the Obama administration.

Blagojevich, who is facing federal corruption charges, issued a Writ off Election from his Capitol office in Springfield that also set March 3 as the date for a special primary election, if one is needed.

Wait. Wait. So they’re going to have a special election for Emanuel’s house seat, but he wants to appoint someone to fill Obama’s Senate seat?

We investigated ourselves and we’re innocent

by thoughtfulconservative

The Obama investigation is over and Emanuel was the only aide to talk with Blago

“My inquiry determined that there was nothing at all inappropriate about those conversations,” Craig told reporters on a conference call about the review. “Only one person associated with the transition that had any such contact with the governor or his staff, and those contacts were totally appropriate and acceptable.”

I think it’s just as they say, nothing untoward happened.

But I can’t help but thinking what the left would say if a Republican campaign self-investigated itself.

Oh, wait, we do know. It’s been happening for the last eight years.
