Conference championship games

by thoughtfulconservative

First, some tidbits from SI.com

• Home teams went 190-80 (.704) in the playoffs from 1970 through 2001.

• Home teams have gone 40-28 (.588) in the playoffs since the realignment of 2002.

• Home teams have gone 20-18 (.526) in the playoffs since 2005.

The trend could not be more obvious: Home-field is hardly the advantage it once was.

I was 1-3 last week getting only the Cardinals win correct. I’m 4-4 for the playoffs.

Phi. at Ari. For the first time since 1967 (the Ice Bowl, surely Packer fans remember that) two teams with only 9 wins will play for a league or conference championship. The Cardinals defense has looked impressive in shutting down the Falcons’ and Panthers’ running games. They will probably do the same to the Eagles. But I believe McNabb, in contrast to Ryan and Delhomme will be able to pick the Cardinals’ defense apart. Eagles 31, Cardinals 21.

Bal. at Pit. This will be the Ravens 18th straight week playing football and after a physical game last week will be beat up. The Steelers running game will do enough to send them to Tampa. Steelers 13 Ravens 6.
