UPDATE: GOP files complaint into Pasch-Citizen Action tie

Via a couple of tweets from Charlie Sykes:

Sandy Pasch is a concerned citizen, right? Great.

Well, except for Wisconsin statute 11.06 (7)(a):

Every committee, other than a personal campaign committee, which and every individual, other than a candidate who desires to make disbursements during any calendar year, which are to be used to advocate the election or defeat of any clearly identified candidate or candidates in any election shall before making any disbursement, except within the amount authorized under s. 11.05 (1) or(2), file with the registration statement under s. 11.05 a statement under oath affirming that the committee or individual does not act in cooperation or consultation with any candidate or agent or authorized committee of a candidate who is supported, that the committee or individual does not act in concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, any candidate or any agent or authorized committee of a candidate who is supported, that the committee or individual does not act in cooperation or consultation with any candidate or agent or authorized committee of a candidate who benefits from a disbursement made in opposition to a candidate, and that the committee or individual does not act in concert with, or at the request or suggestion of, any candidate or agent or authorized committee of a candidate who benefits from a disbursement made in opposition to a candidate. A committee which or individual who acts independently of one or more candidates or agents or authorized committees of candidates and also in cooperation or upon consultation with, in concert with, or at the request or suggestion of one or more candidates or agents or authorized committees of candidates shall indicate in the oath the names of the candidate or candidates to which it applies.

A lot of legalese to say that an organization who makes an oath of independent disbursements is not acting in cooperation or consultation with the candidate or committees connected with the candidate.

See, Citizen Action of Wisconsin has made such an oath. For Sandy Pasch. And Sandy Pasch is on the board. And they stage demonstrations like this.

Independent? Hmmmm…

I’ll let the legal eagles take over from here, cuz I’m not a lawyer, or anything…

Wisconsin Democrats’ stimulus plan

Focusing money on highway, bridge and other infrastructure projects would let “Wisconsin companies hire Wisconsin workers at family-supporting jobs,” Senate Majority Leader Russ Decker (D-Weston) said in a speech on the Senate floor.

Yeah, like that Government Accountability Board web site deal.

Waukesha Carnival – Happy New Year

Welcome to the first edition of 2009.

Let’s see which posts made the cut for me.

New Year’s is the time of year when we review stories, check on last year’s predictions and predict for the coming year. James Wigderson does all three in three posts. You can find his prediction results, his look back, and his predictions for the coming year all at Wigderson Library & Pub.

On that theme, at Practically Speaking, Kyle Prast shares what she feels were her best posts of the past year.

Cindy Kilkenny is also reflective of the past accomplishments and future directions over at Fairly Conservative.

Huckleberry Dumbell, publisher, editor and writer at Spring City Chronicle, gives his opinion of what the Packers need.

Food is always popular this time of year and we have Scott Feldstein giving a thumbs-up to downtown Waukesha eating places.

We also have MommaBlogger over at Homemaker’s Guide to the Galaxy, talking about something called Iron Cupcake. No, you’ll have to click the link to find out.

As to that web site for the Wisconsin GAB that has the Minneapolis skyline on it, The Asian Badger says that’s not the real problem.

Tom Gehl at Brookfield Basics reviews the book Flowing Streams by Stuart Briscoe, minister at large, at Elmbrook Church.

Alexander at A little off Main gives us Reason # 247 to love mass transit…

Bryon Houlgrave got up early New Years morning (stayed up late?) to give us Good Morning, 2009.

Trisha (Mrs. silent E) over at DaBubbler reposts an old article entitled The Green Conservative which is still well worth reading. Her blog was formerly named “life artist,” so take note.

Speaking of silent E, he gave a report of the Bloggers Christmas Party at silent E speaks. You can see the predictions they made for the coming year and some pictures at Fred’s place.

Finally, Dad29 comments on one of those little-heard economics items, M1 the multiplier. He’s got a chart, too, and says,

The period from ‘the end of 3.2′ to 2008 was kinda ‘sticky-gooey’ economically, come to think of it…

In fact, it looks to me that “the end of 3.2″ corresponds to Alan Greenspan becoming head of the Fed. Coincidence?

In case you didn’t know, concernedcitizen tells us at Skeptics Anonymous that Dish Network Subscribers Get Screwed.

Nationally, we have Huckleberry Dumbell starting off Thursday Morning Coffee Time with a nice little rant about the credit crisis at Spring City Chronicle.

Alexander at A Little Off Main comments on Laura Ingraham’s interview of Rep. Paul Ryan on O’Reilly.

The Asian Badger contends that the markets are not too impressed with Obama.

Scott Feldstein gives us his suggestions for the GOP.

Closer to home, Josh has a post with pics on the Christmas tree at Bayshore Mall at his place, Blog Waukesha.

Jeff at Five Points give his thoughts on downtown Waukesha developement and apartments.

Statewide, Sen. Mary Lazich (or aide Kevin Fischer) posts at Conservatively Speaking that TABOR survived another vote in Colorado. I guess some people (Hmmm, 55%) think it’s beneficial.

Dad29 informs us that Gov. Doyle hopes to take care of the $5 billion (with a “b”) “structural” (Don’t you love political speak?) deficit by telling agencies to flat line spending. He gives some suggestions for cuts.

Cindy Kilkenny notes it’s tough to be a girl in this business of political opinion making. You can read about it at Fairly Conservative.

James Wigderson writes at Wigderson Library & Pub that the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board disenfranchises everybody.

Waukesha Carnival 09-28-2008

Welcome to this week’s edition.

After this past week’s ups and downs, we could all use some humor. Tim at The Other Side of My Mouth asks “What is a Liberal?” No, you have to go find the answer yourself. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Welcome back. What? Well, I thought it was funny, but I have a strange sense of humor.

A poke at the right, a poke at the left, fair and balanced this week. So would Obama do anything to get elected? silent e says “Yes,” and provides a picture. Of course, now that even Republicans are saying Palin is not qualified, Obama might not go for that look. I have become convinced that Republicans don’t deserve to rule because they don’t know how. Do you think the Democrats would be doing this stuff?

Well, I better stop that rant and get back to the carnival.

The bailout was big news nationally and it engendered many posts locally. The Asian Badger shared his thoughts about what he thinks the agreement should look like.

Tom Gehl at Brookfield Basics wrote about what he felt were even more basic causes of the financial crisis.

Dad29 considers Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan and sees stuff he likes. He also gives us some things to consider as we consider the bailout.

Huckleberry Dumbell at Spring City Chronicle gives us a segue between the bailout and the first debate when he says,

Two senators more or less will have no effect on the success or failure of the bailout plan. All they do is talk anyway. It is more important that the person who will be the next POTUS be at the debate. If the vote, for some reason, looks like it will go down to two votes (the final vote count is almost always known well before the vote is taken) then they can be in Washington in two hours. I don’t like this move at all, you don’t suspend your campaign less than eight weeks from the finish line.

Speaking of the debate, James Wigderson of Wigderson’s Library & Pub was on UPFRONT with Mike Gousha on Sunday with Renee Crawford of Crawford’s Takes. James shares some behind the scenes stuff. You can see the video here.

Posts concerning Wisconsin news included Linda Richter’s post on Van Hollen’s suit being voter suppression posted at Inside New Berlin and how the issue affects voters in Brookfield as reported by Cindy Kilkenny at Fairly Conservative and The Asian Badger.

Locally, Bryon Houlgrave gives us some photos of local high school girls volleyball and discusses some photo related issues he had to solve to get those shots.

Jeff at Five Points sweeps the streets of Waukesha and gives us his views of local topics.

Fox Head is ceasing posting at his blog although he will still post at Hobo Springs.

And speaking of the Springs, Alexander gives us a heads-up about the Blog ‘n’ Grog coming up at The House of Guiness on September 30. That’s Tuesday. See you there. Bloggers and readers of blogs no matter what their persuasion are welcome.

Curt Otto informs us that “no snakes were harmed” in this post at Maple & Main about the new Wal-Mart that was approved for the corner of Hwy. 59 and west Avenue.

Finally, Lisa at Sequentially Speaking updates us on what DC comics is doing to prevent further occurrences of profanity making its way into their comic books.
